England would probably be surprised, and give Macau a thorough interrogation to see if he was fit to date Hong Kong and win his approval. Of course, he would expect anyone to fail his verbal tests and fall short, but Macau answers every question smoothly and to England’s taste (don’t even get me started on when they began talking about tea…). Macau would easily win England’s approval, and leave him feeling confident about the type of person HK had found for himself, even if he was wary at first
They thought China might be a little more difficult, seeing as he is a bit of a stickler- but to everyone’s surprise he was totally fine with them dating. In fact, he wasn’t even surprised; he was irritated they hadn’t told him sooner and eager to start planning a wedding. It took a lot of persuading and exasperation to get him to drop that idea, and even now he still tries to control them and their relationship a little bit- he’s a very nosy and overbearing father figure.
Anon asked for sar pair headcanons, so here they are!
I guess it’s not really a headcanon, more of just my portrayal of the ship, but I like the idea that Hong Kong has always had a really big crush on Macau ever since he was little. He used to look up to him and follow him around and get flustered at how nice he was and how much he paid attention to him. It’d be really cute if little Hong Kong asked Macau to marry him
